#4 About cleaning up plastic in the oceans

Plastic in our oceans kills 1.5 million seabirds, whales, fish and turtles every year. But microplastic also poses a risk to our own health. How do we clean up the plastic as efficiently as possible? To answer this question, oceanographers and climate scientists from Utrecht University are conducting research into the currents of the oceans and how they transport plastic waste. The goal is to use this knowledge to be the first to make the Galapagos Islands plastic-free and ultimately to clean up the oceans step by step.
