#2 About how children look at faces

When a child looks at a face, he looks back and forth between the two eyes and the mouth. This creates a triangular viewing pattern. At Utrecht University we conduct research into social viewing behavior. We are investigating whether there is a relationship between where and for how long children look at their parent's face and how social they are. The results increase our knowledge about child development and can possibly be applied to improving communication between parent and child, but also to developing social robots.

Our university is a great treasure chest full of beautiful stories. Every plate and cup from the Science x Porcelain collection tells such a story. The scientific patterns on the porcelain are the result of leading research and at the same time a decorative element.

The porcelain was made by Cor Unum, a ceramic studio in 's-Hertogenbosch where beautiful ceramics are made with great passion and craftsmanship. Cor Unum works with a team of professionals, students, designers, volunteers and people with distance to the labor market.
